Nearby Now + Zapier
Things to note about this integration
- Checking in on-site is WAY better than doing things from the office or with the sheet
- Pictures CAN'T be added this way, customer must go back to add photos
- They can only post 100 check-ins a month this way via the free plan
Phase 1: Sheet Setup
Step 1
First determine if the customer wants a sheet WITH reviews our WITHOUT reviews. That will help you select which table format you need.

Step 2
Take the appropriate table headings and paste them into a blank Google Sheet. Name the Google Sheet CID - Company Name - NBN Zap
Step 3
Click the Share button
Change the General Access to "Anyone with the link" and the access as "Editor", then hit done.
Step 4
Give the sheet to the customer to fill out. When the customer fills it out and says they are done, move onto the next phase.
Phase 2: Zapier Integration
Step 1
Go to https://zapier.com/ and create an account using one of the @oann.net emails. If they use their own email accounts for Nearby Now, just make up an @oann.net account and the customer can change accounts later.
Step 2
Go through the questions with random answers as this has no impact on how the integration works.
Next add Nearby Now and Google Sheets when it asks what apps you'd like to use
Step 3
Log into the customers Nearby Now account and copy their API key
Next, go back to Zapier and click Create and choose Zaps.
Next, click Trigger and choose Google Sheets
For the Trigger event, choose New or Updated Spreadsheet Row Instant
For the Account, choose the oapagepilot@gmail.com account or whichever one you have created the google spreadsheet under. After that, hit continue.
Next, choose the spreadsheet the customer sent over for the spreadsheet requirement. For the worksheet, choose Sheet1 and for the trigger column choose Upload then hit continue.
Finally, click Continue with Selected Record
Step 3
Select Nearby Now and for action event, choose Create Checkin (Address) and for account, to add the account. Here you will put in the Nearby Now API key. Once done, hit continue
NOTE: If the customer wants to send reviews with this mass check in, you will also need to select Request Review as the action event. If they do not want to send reviews, Create Checkin (Address) is all you need.
Next, select the corresponding row to the section as pictured below and then hit Continue and test.
Step 4
Inform the customer that the Zap is now set up. Here is a template email to send:
Hey, [name].
I’ve finished setting up the integration between Nearby Now and Google Sheets. Here’s the link to your check-in sheet: [link].
Please get the relevant data from your CRM and paste it as indicated in the column headings. If you go over 100 check-ins per month, you can choose to upgrade Zapier or just wait for them to trickle through.
When you’re ready to push a check-in through, put an X in the upload field column. This will ensure nothing is posted until you’re ready to go.
Please note, if you want reviews, that only phone OR email is required.
