Email Q&A

Why are the emails in my daily/weekly/monthly quarantine email not in the quarantine list when I choose "Deliver"?

When choosing "Deliver" or "Whitelist" you are requesting an action be done. For Barracuda to complete that action it will require the user to login. Once logged in Barracuda will complete the action causing the email to be removed from the list. Users may confuse this with the email being deleted, but the message should be in their inbox unless a forward is setup. At that point the quarantined email will be delivered to the appropriate inbox.
Note: Choosing "View your entire Quarantine Inbox or manage your preferences." will not perform any action other than logging the user in.

How do you setup and delete an Alias in atmail?

Sign into Atmail and click Services at the top of the screen, and then Email Aliases on the left hand side.

In the Filter by domain search bar, search for either email addresses for the alias to see if it already exists.

If it exists, then the jobs already done!

If it doesn't exist, then check the hard forwards list.

For that, click the LastPass tool in your browser and search for Forward.

Click the OA-Tools option and sign in to view the forwards

It should take you to a page that looks like below, scroll through here and search for the alias. If you can't find it, then it isn't in here either. If it is, then the job is already done!

If it isn't on the hard forwards list either, then scroll to the bottom of the page in Atmail.

First, determine what kind of alias the customer wants this to be:

  • Local Alias - Forwards from one account to the other. (Example - Emails going to Joe, go to Tim instead)
  • Deliver locally and alias - Sends email to main account and alias. (Example - Emails going to Joe, go to Tim also)
  • Domain aliases - "Catches" all the emails for a domain and forwards copies to a single account. (Example - besthvacintown.com is the domain, all emails sent to that domain in general, go to whoever they were sent to and to the single account listed)
  • Alias to Maildir/File - Creates a copy of emails and stores them in a single folder in a folder. (Example - all emails send to recipient and get copied to a folder in a spot on the computer to be used to backup old emails.)
  • Virtual Domain - Allows forwards between domains. (Example - Joe@besthvacintown.com forwards to tim@worsthvacintown.com)

Note: Most customers will want just a local Alias, second most popular is Deliver locally and Alias.

Once you determine what kind of alias the customer wants, put in the Local Email Address box, the account they want to display as.

Next, in the Forward To box, put in the email address they want the emails to really go to, or the inbox they need to have access to, to send

Hit the Add Alias button.

After hitting add, check at the top of the list to make sure it was added correctly.

If you want to delete an alias, simply find the alias and hit the blue Delete button on the right hand side
