How to close out a Helping out locally contest

INFO: This is when a customer's contest has been completed. You will do these things for the 30 days POST contest to wrap everything up.

When the contest is complete, you will need to update the HOL section on the homepage. If it's something you are able to edit yourself, simply edit the wording and the link to the page in the directions below. If you are unable to edit it, or there are things that graphics will need to edit, you can create a task for graphics to update. Please update the following on the homepage:

  • Badge - If the Badge has any wording on it that needs to be changed to call out to drive people to view the results, change it. If the badge does not have any wording that needs to be changed, you can skip this part.
  • Wording - Update the wording in the HOL section to entice people to view the results of the contest, rather than to go vote. Also, change the button to go from "Vote Here" to "View Results" or something similar
  • Link - Instead of having the button link to the voting page, have it link to the results page.

Once the contest is done, you will want to attract people to the results page to see how the contest went. Who won? How many votes were counted? It's great to see how it all went in the end.

On this page, please ask the customer for the images of the charaties holding up their big checks with the owners/staff.

Once you get the images, update the results page to have the images of the charaties, their name, and what place they came in.

If the customer wants more information on the page or images, they are free to add as much as they would like. Encourage them to send in at least the pictures of the winners with the checks to showcase to the people who voted, or are curious at how it went, that it was a legit contest and the winners were paid out.

If a Helping Out Locally customer also has Social Media with Online-Access, proceed with the step below. If they do NOT have Social Media with Online-Acces, you can skip this step.

Create a task for Social Media to make a post that the contest is over and to check out the winners.

In the task, send them a link to the results page so they can use it for the post. If they ask for additional photos or badges from the customer, provide those to them as well.

IF YOU ARE STILL MISSING IMAGES AND INFO FOR THE CONTEST, PLEASE DO THESE STEPS. IF NOT, YOU CAN SKIP AND GO TO THE FINAL STEP.

2 weeks or 15 days after the contest has ended, reach out to the customer via email or phone call and asking for an update on the images and/or content for the page.

Update the page if the customer has sent in new items.

Once the contest has been over for 30 days, remove the section on the homepage for the HOL contest. If you are unable to do so without messing up the homepage, make a task for graphics for it.

Disable all the Helping out locally pages and put them in the HOL folder and make sure the folder is hidden, but NOT in the deleted folder in the case they would like to have a contest in the future.
